LWC Merchants & Shippers, a leading distributor of fine wines to the independent free trade, has scooped 42 gongs - including seven Gold - at this year’s Sommelier Wine Awards.
In what is the most successful year yet for the distributor in terms of awards achieved, this year’s entry submissions scored an overall medal success rate of 82%, up almost 20% on last year’s awards (39 awards out of 61 entries.)
LWC Merchants & Shippers entered 51 wines into three categories; Old World (19 entries) New Wold (four entries) and Essentials (28 wines) with phenomenal results.

Making a name for itself as a barometer for trends within the wine industry, the Sommelier Wine Awards sees each entry put through its paces by a panel of leading sommeliers and on-trade drinks buyers, in order to establish the best wines available to the hospitality trade.

In addition to its Gold, Silver and Bronze medal-winning wines, a further 21 of LWC Merchant & Shippers’ wines received Commended status.
