Making a name for itself as a barometer for trends within the wine industry, the Sommelier Wine Awards sees each entry put through its paces by a panel of leading sommeliers and on-trade drinks buyers, in order to establish the best wines available to the hospitality trade.
Shaun Healy, wine director at LWC Merchants & Shippers commented: “We are absolutely thrilled with the success of our brands at this year’s Sommelier Wine Awards. We knew the competition would be tough, so to achieve 42 medals out of 51 entries and across such a wide range of categories is a truly incredible feat for us.”
“At LWC Merchants & Shippers we have always been confident in the quality of our brands, ensuring we are consistently bringing only the best to our customers, so to have the SWA stamp of approval across so many of our wines will help further cement our position as market leaders.
“This achievement is a true testament to the quality of suppliers and producers we work with, and it’s great to see such a broad range of wines scooping awards - from the newer Italian listings such as I Castelli to the more established wines such as Healy & Gray varietals.”
In addition to its Gold, Silver and Bronze medal-winning wines, a further 21 of LWC Merchant & Shippers’ wines received Commended status.
LWC Shippers & Merchants is part of the LWC Drinks group portfolio, which has temporarily closed its national depots due to the COVID-19 pandemic. LWC Drinks direct-to-consumer channel ClicknDrink is still in operation, retailing many of these award winning wines.
