LWC, the UK’s largest independent drinks wholesaler is delighted to announce further expansion into Wales, with a partnership with the wholesale division of Glamorgan Brewing Company.
Marking the latest step in the national wholesaler’s commitment to provide customers with the best service possible, wherever they are, the two businesses will now join forces to leverage their individual strengths and build an even stronger service proposition for customers in South Wales and the surrounding areas.
Under the new partnership, the synergy of the two businesses will:
- Create a ‘best-in-class’ independent route-to-market network across South Wales
- Allow for a better service reach without compromising existing customer service-levels.
- Provide current and new customers with an unrivalled portfolio of products, including access to LWC’s exclusive Signature Wine and Brand ranges.
- Strengthen the overall service and offering for customers in Wales.
- Investing in South Wales to create more jobs in the local community.
Established in 1994, the family-owned Glamorgan Brewing Company – which has seen two generations at its helm - was set up with one aim; to ‘bring better brews to the pubs, bars and clubs of Wales’. Since then, the business has enjoyed significant growth in both its brewing and on-trade wholesale divisions, winning multiple awards and employing over 80 local people.
The wholesale arm of this highly esteemed Welsh business is now taking the next step in its success story and joins LWC - another family business - to continue to build on its local distribution foothold.
Ebrahim Mukadam, Managing Director at LWC, commented: “We are delighted to welcome the fantastic Glamorgan Brewing Company to the LWC family. Having built up an incredible reputation for both brewing and distribution over the last 30 years, we are thrilled to be partnering with such a strong, reputable Welsh business.
“Much like LWC, Glamorgan Brewing Company is a family company with real family values. Both committed and firmly rooted to the communities in which they serve, but always driven by a passion for excellent customer service. I believe that it is these commonalities that will really drive our collective strength, moving forward.
“As a national wholesaler with a local feel, LWC prides itself on the regionality of all of our sites. Our depots operate as local businesses for local people and are strongly embedded in their local communities. The fact that Glamorgan Brewing Company mirrors these values in their own local hub, makes them the perfect partner.
“Glamorgan Brewing Company has built a fantastic team, supported by an equally fantastic leadership team, and I very much look forward to getting to know all of the wonderfully skilled and passionate teams at the site in Glamorgan over the coming months.”
Richard Anstee, Managing Director at Glamorgan Brewing Company commented: “Glamorgan Brewing Company will be 30 years old in November and we’re tremendously excited to be beginning a new chapter with LWC.
“This new strategic partnership will help accelerate our growth and commitment to deliver beers, wines, spirits and soft drinks to the wholesale market across the whole Principality, positioning Glamorgan Brewing Company as the industry’s leading drinks company in Wales.
“Under this new partnership, our customers will be able to choose from an expanded range with many new products, including LWC’s best-in-class Signature Brands and extensive Wine portfolio. Our teams will also benefit from new opportunities for career development, and we’ll be creating lots of jobs for local people too.
“We’ve always been deeply committed to our customers and our people. As a family-owned business, forming a strategic partnering with such a large, well run and well-respected company as LWC is a huge step forward for Glamorgan Brewing, and we’re hugely excited for the future.”
The Glamorgan Brewing Company brewery will form no part of the LWC affiliation and remains an independent family-led brewing business under the same ownership as before, which will continue to be a key supplier to the wholesale division of Glamorgan Brewing.
This partnership will mark LWC’s 19th site in the UK and follows the recent partnership with Hills Prospect in Essex, plus the 2023 openings of LWC Aylesbury, LWC Andover and LWC Doncaster.
This customer centric growth strategy will ensure LWC continues to deliver the widest range of drinks that meet the nation’s ever-changing tastes.
