LWC Wine Merchants & Shippers is proud to announce its best-ever performance at the 2025 Sommelier Wine Awards (SWA), securing a record 84 medals and reaffirming its position as a leading wine partner for the UK on-trade.
This year’s results mark a 13.5% increase in medals compared to the 2024 awards (74) – a clear sign of the continued growth, depth and strength of LWC’s wine portfolio.
2025 SWA Medal Breakdown:
- 7 Gold Medals
- 30 Silver Medals
- 47 Bronze Medals
- 5 Additional Accolades including House White of the Year and By the Glass awards
Each wine entered into the SWA is blind-tasted and judged by some of the UK’s most respected sommeliers, buyers and on-trade professionals, making it one of the most trusted awards programmes in the industry. The results speak volumes about the quality and commercial appeal of the LWC wine range.
Standout Winners
Among the highest performers in this year’s lineup were:
- Villa Blanche Picpoul – Gold + House White of the Year
- GIKAS Cabernet Sauvignon – Gold + By the Glass Medal
- Healy & Gray Sauvignon Blanc – Gold + Pub & Bar Meda
Following on from our exclusive distribution partnership announcement earlier this year, we’re also pleased to share that Silver Reign English Sparkling Wine by MDCV UK was awarded both Gold and ‘By the Glass’ medals.
An award win our whole business can celebrate
Frances Bentley, Wine Buyer for LWC, commented: “We’re absolutely thrilled with the results of the 2025 SWA. These awards are a fantastic endorsement not just of the wines we list, but of the teams and producers behind them.
“To have our wines independently judged as among the best available to the UK on-trade – across so many styles, price points and formats – is an achievement we’re incredibly proud of. We owe huge thanks to our producers, supplier partners, and every customer who chooses LWC for their wine offer.
“It’s particularly rewarding to see well-loved wines like Villa Blanche Picpoul shine once again – while also watching newer additions like the GIKAS Cabernet Sauvignon and Healy & Gray Sauvignon Blanc make such a strong impression with the judging panel.”
