LWC is set to introduce one of Germany’s favourite beer brands to British taps for the very first time. Brinkhoff’s No.1 – said to be born from a pale‑malt misbatch in Dortmund in 1887 – arrives exclusively through LWC’s award‑winning Signature Brands portfolio, perfectly timed for Oktoberfest and the booming world‑beer market.
A lighter pale malt, originally delivered to a customer by mistake sparked one of Germany’s greatest beer inventions, with the original 5.0% pale lager quickly becoming a Ruhr‑area favourite. In the German market Brinkhoff´s No.1 has been poured as the official beer of Borussia Dortmund football club, the very club where homegrown talents like Jude and Jobe Bellingham first rose to international prominence.
The launch comes at a commercially significant time, with world beers now accounting for over 24% of total beer sales in the UK on-trade*, making them the fastest-growing category. *
Lee Williams, Beer & Cider Category Manager at LWC commented: “We’re thrilled to introduce Brinkhoff’s No.1 to our customers as an exclusive UK first. This is a beer with real heritage and cultural resonance – not just in Germany, but here in the UK too.
“Brinkhoff’s story sits alongside history’s greatest accidental discoveries, and now our customers get to share that narrative with a beer that delivers proven appeal in the Ruhr and beyond. Our dedicated teams and bespoke point-of-sale kits will ensure operators can activate it easily, drive footfall and make the most of the world‑beer boom.”
LWC will also launch two complementary variants alongside the main lager:
- 330ml Radler (2.0% ABV) – Available from October
- 330ml Alcohol‑Free (0.0% ABV) – Available from October
Offering three formats - 5.0% pale lager, 2.0% Radler and 0.0% Alcohol‑Free - gives operators the flexibility to cater to full‑strength drinkers, lighter‑drink seekers and those choosing non‑alcoholic options.
Jochen Wienhold at Radeberger Gruppe, the brewery group behind the brand, commented: “LWC’s national reach and deep understanding of the local on-trade makes them the perfect partner for Brinkhoff’s No.1. They understand what customers need, not just great beer, but the tools, insights, and service to turn it into sales. We’re excited to work with them to bring this story-rich beer to life across the UK.”
Available now in draught and packaged formats, Brinkhoff’s No.1 is supported by a full suite of point-of-sale and promotional materials including font hangers, glassware, bar runners, signage, steins, and T-shirts – ideal for Oktoberfest nights, Bavarian events, world beer festivals and Christmas markets.
